# Tryoutpad > Tryout scoring for youth sport and activity selections. Evaluators score player numbers by link on their phones, and each family opens only their own player's report with a code. Tryoutpad is tryout scoring for youth sport and activity selections. A director signs in with a passkey (WebAuthn; no password, no email address) and sets up a tryout: a date in the club's time zone, a 1 to 5 or 1 to 10 scale, a rubric (by default Technique, Movement, Game sense, Effort and Coachability), age groups, and players by number only (no name, birth date, photo, school or contact is ever asked for or stored). Each evaluator gets a private scoring link and taps 1 to 5 per criterion for each number on their phone; unsent scores are kept on the phone and sent when signal returns. The director sees a rank table per group: each evaluator's scores are evened out against their own average and spread (a z-score), averaged into a shown score where 50 is the middle, with the spread between evaluators flagged at 15 or more. After scoring closes the director publishes reports, and each family opens only their own player's report with a 10-character code paired with the club's report link: the mean score per criterion, how many evaluators scored the player, the club's next steps, and optionally the rank and the placed team. Tryouts become read-only after 30 quiet days past their date and are deleted 365 days after it, with 7 days to restore first. Everything is kept in a Cloudflare D1 database; links and codes are stored only as SHA-256 digests. ## Tool - [Tryout scoring with private family reports](https://tryoutpad.com/): What Tryoutpad is: players are numbers, evaluators score by link on their phones, the director ranks and places, and each family opens only their own player's report with a code. ## How it works - [How scores are combined, with a worked example](https://tryoutpad.com/how-it-works/): The scoring rules in the order they apply: unit scores, each evaluator's average, evening out harsh and generous evaluators, the shown score, spread and rank, and what a family report holds. ## Reference - [FAQ](https://tryoutpad.com/faq/): Why numbers and not names, how scores are combined, evaluator spread, what a family sees, when reports appear, rubrics, data kept, export and signal at the field. - [Free tryout printables](https://tryoutpad.com/printables/): A paper evaluator score sheet and a number-to-name sheet for the director's clipboard, as PDFs made in the browser. - [Tryout evaluator score sheet to print](https://tryoutpad.com/printables/evaluator-score-sheet/): A paper backup score sheet: 25 player numbers down, 5 criteria across, a 1 to 5 scale and a notes column. - [Tryout number-to-name sheet to print](https://tryoutpad.com/printables/number-to-name-sheet/): A blank sheet the director keeps on paper: player numbers next to names, so no name ever goes into an app. - [About](https://tryoutpad.com/about/): What the site is, what it is not, and who it is for. ## Policies - [Privacy](https://tryoutpad.com/privacy/): Exactly what is stored on the server, where, for how long, and how to export and delete it. No child's name is stored. - [Terms of use](https://tryoutpad.com/terms/): What the site can be relied on for, the club's duties to families, acceptable use and support. ## Pricing Free. No paid plan is offered at present. Up to 2 tryouts at a time with 60 players and 6 evaluators each, every feature included. ## What it is not - Not affiliated: Tryoutpad is not affiliated with any league, governing body, club or tryout software company. - Not a selection authority: the scores are the averaged views of the club's evaluators on one day; team decisions are the club's. - No names: players are numbers; the director keeps the number-to-name sheet on paper. - No email to families or evaluators: only the director can get one notice, "Scores are in". - No passwords: directors sign in with passkeys only. ## Optional - [Full text of every page](https://tryoutpad.com/llms-full.txt): every page as Markdown, in one file. - Support: socialreminderinfo@gmail.com
